Nonprofit Startup Aims to Dot St. Louis With ‘Pocket Parks’

From St. Louis Business Journal: While jogging last year in downtown St. Louis, Samantha Lee Smugala couldn’t help but notice the emptiness around her.

The Covid-19 pandemic had emptied downtown’s normally busy streets as companies shifted to work-from-home models. But while on her run, Smugala came up with an idea, one generated by an empty plot of land at 10th and Locust streets.

“This one plot of land has always been on my radar,” she said.
